The Canadian Pacific Railway, where his father had worked diligently after The War Years, accepted Carl as an apprentice Carman, where he worked alongside tradesmen in millwork, carpentry, mechanics and welding. Desiring creative growth led Carl to change his vocation in the mid-sixties. Winning a job in the display department of The T. Eaton Company in Port Arthur, Ontario (at that time the twin city to Fort William), the ambitious young man set out to prove his worth.
